Here comes a new version of the current E-Class. More than just a simple facelift this car has actually been revised on the exterior and also under the new hood.

E-Class 200 Look

Mercedes-Benz has completely revised the ever popular E-Class sedan with a sportier new exterior and new, powerful BlueDIRECT four-cylinder petrol engines featuring sophisticated direct injection technology. With the new ‘face’ come revised headlamps incorporating twin lamps in each with new signature daytime running lights.

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia launched 2 new versions in AVANTGARDE form, incorporating the sporty front end with central 3-pointed star. The headlamps have been redesigned and comprise all functional elements with a single headlamp lens. The low-beam headlamps and the daytime running lamps feature LED technology as standard.  A modified side view with new feature line and repositioned trim strip make the E-Class not only looks more elongated, but also more elegant yet at the same time dynamic.

E-Class 200 High-Tech Engine

Both the Mercedes-Benz E-Class variants are fitted with ECO start/stop function. New units include the BlueDIRECT four-cylinder petrol engines in the E 200 and E 250, featuring the same sophisticated technology used in the latest six-cylinder engine from Mercedes-Benz.

E-Class 200 Intelligent assistance systems

Both models are fitted as standard with COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST, a radar-based collision warning system with adaptive brake assist systems. Also forming part of the standard equipment is ATTENTION ASSIST, which is now able to warn of inattentiveness and drowsiness across a wider speed range, and also inform the driver about his level of fatigue and the amount of driving time which has elapsed since the last break.

E-Class 200 Safety

What started with the PRE-SAFE® system some ten years ago and continued with DISTRONIC PLUS has resulted in a new dimension of motoring at Mercedes-Benz: comfort and safety are merged into one, opening up all sorts of new prospects for motorists and car developers alike. Mercedes-Benz refers to this as “intelligent drive”. This Mercedes-Benz E-Class also features a whole host of new or optimised systems on board which help to make motoring more comfortable and safer.

Fitted as standard is COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST, a radar-based collision warning system with brake assist systems. It helps to significantly reduce the risk of a rear-end collision. Also forming part of the standard equipment is ATTENTION ASSIST, which is now able to warn of inattentiveness and drowsiness across a wider speed range, and also inform the driver about his level of fatigue and the amount of driving time which has elapsed since the last break. It also offers an adjustable sensitivity level.

E-Class 200 Drive

If you want a car that offers drive dynamics with a splash of luxury, this E-Class is the car you should be considering. This E-Class will be reliable, safe, and sensible. The well-equipped, stylish interior will keep you comfortable, and the smooth ride will remind you of the older version which never disappointed us on daily routine city commutes.

The steering is light with enough road feel to give the driver some hint of feedback. The spring and damper set-up on this E-Class is pretty much spot on; its relatively firm through corners, providing good levels of body control and limited roll. Ride quality is also good, smoothing bumps with authority. As for handling and road manners, there are no issues. The wheels grip eagerly on wet or dry surfaces This E-Class also offers first-rate front-end grip with predictable understeer during really hard cornering. Generally, it absorbs the bumps and potholes pretty well, although undulating and uneven road surfaces, driven over at high speed, will get this E-Class responding back with some stiffness due more to its origin where such roads are almost never a question. The 7-speed automatic gearbox is a dream to use and there is hardly a hint of shift and kick down effect even when confronting a quick immediate pickup or emergency slowdown. This is a ‘superbly’ comfortable sedan and after 3 days with it behind the wheel and also in the rear of the cabin, it was clear winner in its ability to offer great comfort.
