Breva Reveals World’s First Timepiece With An Integrated Speedometer
A luxury timepiece that every fast and safe driver will want to have. This watch will accurately read the speed you are cruising through the force of wind, which is a first of its kind. Swiss luxury watch maker Breva says that prior to the appearance of their new Genie 03 timepieces could only calculate speed by using an engraved scale marked in miles or kilometers per hour. In other words, it would not be a real-time indication with constant refreshing.
The company’s latest creation is fitted with a patented “instant speed” scientific measurement mechanism, with a proprietary extrusion mechanism that creates a unique look. When extended to indicate the speed, it stands 6mm proud of the watch itself.
“Within the Titanium G5 extrusion mechanism, comprised of 45 components, are special alloy Robinson cups, in the manner of an anemometer. The classic device for measuring wind speed, it has been adapted in Génie 03 to display speeds of 20 to 200 km/hour or 10 to 125 mph”. Sure, this double-function wristwatch comes with a cost, since the case measures 44.7 mm in diameter and 15.7 mm thick.
Leaving the pop-up speedometer aside for a second, the movement itself is built in house by Breva and is a 34 jewel, automatic, self-winding movement with a 60 hour power reserve. Internally known as BRE03.001, it’s mostly made of titanium and measures 35 mm in diameter. The case is also made of titanium and has a smoked translucent sapphire crystal dial with white gold indexes.
The beautiful timepiece is a not only a work of art, but is also unique through its features. Sure, that also means a big price, USD56,800 to be more precise, but hey, if you want to be special you need to pay up!
