Audi Q7 etron Diesel Makes Video Debut

Following its reveal at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this month, Audi has now make a video to introduce its Q7 e-tron 3.0 TDI Quattro to the market.

The Q7 is in its second generation and this particular model comes with a diesel-electric hybrid powertrain, pairing up a 3.0 TDI six-cylinder with an electric motor, a 17.3 kWh lithium-ion battery and an eight-speed tiptronic transmission. The dieseil in here generates about 258 hp and 600 Nm of torque while the electric motor adds 128 hp and 350 Nm.

This gives the Audi Q7 e-tron 3.0 TDI quattro a 0-100 km/h time of 6 seconds and a max speed of 225 km/h. Not bad for an SUV of this size. More notable however is that it returns a pretty staggering 1.7 l/100 km fuel efficiency rating with CO2 emissions of less than 50 g/km. Being a Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle, it can also be driven on pure electricity for up to 56 kilometres, or be used as a hybrid for 1410 kilometres before its lithium batteries need to be recharged.

The Q7 e-tron 3.0 TDI quattro (boy what a mouthful) will go on sale some time in 2016, in time to compete with BMW’s X5 and Mercedes’ GLE PHEVs.
