New James Bond: Spectre featurette: supercar chase through the streets of Rome

We have pretty high standards when it comes to car chases. One is not merely content with a bit of fast driving on some city streets, no: there must be sideways action.

There must be near misses, close shaves, edge-of-your-seat action. And the James Bond series usually attempts to deliver on this, whether it be a car chase or a bike chase.

Of course, the main chase scene in the movie will feature two of the big British car brands that the James Bond series has become synonymous with: Aston Martin and Jaguar.

Both companies are providing high-end prototype models for exclusive use in the movie. The last time we saw a car chase scene involving these two brands was back when Pierce Brosnan handled the role of Bond, in Die Another Day.

The setting for the chase will be the streets of Rome, where these two prototypes are seen slipping and sliding on the cobblestones and tiles. It’s set to be a real adventure, no doubt with Dave Bautista (as Mr Hinx) in pursuit of Daniel Craig (as James Bond).

Will this chase scene replace the lovable Quantum of Solace car chase that graces our numerous anti-piracy ads? It’s hard to say. But we’re all eager to see it on the silver screen.
