Watch Porsche and Audi fight for 2nd place at Fuji
WEC Fuji may be over, with Porsche taking the top two sports and Audi claiming third, but the footage is still rolling in. Coverage of the race from various motorsport channels showed how close the fight between Porsche and Audi, even 2 hours into the race with a slick track to contend with.
Webber and Fässler continuously trade places through the first hours of the race, before eventually having to head into the pits. There’s some truly spectacular and brave overtaking maneuvers to see, and it also helps to note that while outwardly similar, these cars are technically very different underneath. The Porsche 919 Hybrid operates with a turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol motor, with over 500 hp from the engine and over 400 hp from the electric motor system. The Audi R18 e-tron, on the other hand, uses a 4.0-litre turbodiesel with over 550 hp, and over 270 hp from the hybrid system.
