It has finally happened, Jaguar Land Rover has just confirmed that it will begin assembly of a fourth model, the Jaguar XE sedan, at its plant in Pune, India. The XE will be assembled from knocked down kits alongside the Range Rover Evoque, Land Rover Discovery Sport and the previous-generation Jaguar XF.

India will be the latest market for the XE, which went on sale in Europe in June and launches in Europe this spring. The XE is Jaguar’s smallest and most affordable car, which the automaker believes will help it attract younger customers and more women to the brand.

JLR is seeking to expand its global production base in a bid to boost combined Jaguar and Land Rover sales to 850,000 by 2020. Last year, the two brands sold 487,065, a rise of 24%. After opening a factory in China last year, JLR will start output at a Brazilian plant this year.
