Perodua Sponsors School Trip to Legoland and Contributs to Old Folks’ Home this CNY
Perodua celebrated the Chinese New Year by sponsoring 40 underprivileged school children to a day of fun and learning at Legoland Malaysia Theme Park as well as contributed cash and kind to help run 2 old folks home here. The children were from SKJC (Sekolah Kebangsaan Jenis Cina) Chern Hwa Pasir and SK (Sekolah Kebangsaan) Parit Bilal; they were selected by the Batu Pahat District Education Office (Pejabat Pendidikan Daerah) based on their parents income.
Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh, Perodua’s CEO, said that these programmes were in-line with the company’s Corporate Responsibility pillars, which are empowering the youth through education, enabling the community, safety, philanthropy and the environment.
The activities include “Build & Test” where the kids let out their creativity in building objects with Lego models; “Lego 4D studio” which children can view shows in 4D; “A Lego Academy” where they teach participants how to build educational Lego models for all ages. Other activities include “Lego Mindstorms” which is a creative workshop where budding robot builders can bring the future to life; “Lost Kingdom” where visitors get to play a laser-blasting hunt for lost treasure; and “Junior Driving School” where children learn about road safety.
On philanthropy, Perodua contributed RM6,000 cash to maintain operations of Rumah Sejahtera Batu Pahat, which has 10 senior citizens under its care and Rumah Sejahtera Yong Peng which houses 15 elderly persons. Aside from cash, Perodua has also contributed groceries, gave out Ang Pows and offered daily essentials to each home. Meanwhile, Perodua is also having its Tweckbot service – a free 50-point safety check for Perodua vehicles at the Giant Muar Mall, Johor from the 19th to the 21st February 2016. Each 50-point inspection will take between 10 and 15 minutes to complete.
Perodua customers are encouraged to take part as to ensure their vehicles are roadworthy; especially if they are planning for a long journey.
