Chevrolet Cruze Sport Edition – Remember This?
Launched for the first time in 2009, the Cruze is Chevrolet’s most successful nameplate globally, with over 1.4 million units sold worldwide up to the first quarter of 2016.
What we have here is the Cruze Sport Edition, which was launched in April 2015 with a price of RM122,868. The special edition model is based on the facelifted Cruze LT that made its way into the local market in 2012.
So what makes this model stand out against the regular Cruze? First up, the sedan is kitted with an aerodynamic design bodykit that includes side skirts, front splitter, decklid spoiler as well as rear diffuser. Completing the energetic look are the 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels wrapped in Silverstone Atlantis V7 tyres and LED door sill plates.
Believe it or not, the Sport Edition is not all cosmetics. Those who wish to up the ante in terms of handling can purchase the optional Performance Progressive Coil Springs for added agility. According to Chevrolet, the experience gained on the race track in the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC), which the Cruze has won for two years in a row in 2010 and 2011, has been put to good use in the further development of the road car.
Going inside, the cabin features premium leather upholstery complete with ‘Cruze Sport’ embroidery on the seats. The pragmatic dashboard design is made better with the addition of a new AVN head unit with that comes complete with a touchscreen, DVD, Bluetooh, audio streaming and reverse camera. Control to the infotainment system is provided by the multifunction steering system.
