7 silly reasons why some silly people won’t buy this Porsche Carrera

When you drive a machine that has been developed like a precision tool with an interior crafted for total drive comfort and enjoyment there will always be envious eyes on you. Yes, this is human nature and when they can’t get it for themselves they insult it with silly reasons.

The first and the best reason will be, the high cost of yearly road tax. With its new 2981cc engine, the road tax on this machine is the same as a luxury sedan from Germany or just a tad more.

The second silly reason is the lack of space when you need to pick someone up from the airport. If you can afford a Porsche Carrera priced from RM970,000.00 we are quite sure you have a MPV, luxury sedan or at least a VW Golf GTI in your garage. (maybe even all three mentioned vehicles)

The third reason will be space for the golf bags or the tennis gear. Really? I am sure there is a Golf GTI in the home garage and Porsche owners do not buy their Porsches for carrying golf bags.

The fourth reason is the high fuel consumption. If you can afford a Porsche, you do not talk about the price of fuel or the rising price of coffee at the kopitiam or the high costs of kailan in the wet market. BTW, fuel consumption on this new Porsche 911 per 100km is now around 12% lower because of Porsche’s turbocharging technology. The 911 Carrera with PDK transmission now consumes just 7.4 litres of fuel per 100 km (0.8 litre less), while the S-model with PDK consumes 7.7 l/ 100 km (1.0 litre less).

The fifth reason will be the high maintenance costs. Again, Porsche buyers do not sit at the kopitiam complaining about rising fish prices in the wet market and the inefficiency of RapidKL busses in the area.

The sixth reason will be resale value. Apple to apple the depreciation costs on a Porsche tallies with its German rival’s year on year.

The seventh and final reason will be the low seating position. If you cannot see out from the driver’s seating position in this Porsche, then buy yourself a Hyundai Tucson SUV.
