Triumph Motorcycles Malaysia Announces Pricing for 2017 Model Range

Triumph Motorcycles’ 2017 model lineup has reached Malaysian shores through its exclusive official distributor, Fast Bikes Sdn Bhd. Leading the pack is the Bonneville Bobber, followed by the Street Scrambler, T100/T100 Black variants, and the performance-focused Street Triple RS.

Bonneville Bobber

A completely new model style for the British motorcycle manufacturer, the Bonneville Bobber focuses on minimalism, muscular stance and the engineering of a genuine Bobber. Styling highlights include minimal bodywork with clean lines, single seat, wide flat bars, sculpted tank, wire spoked wheels, with wide rear wheel as well as the hard tail look.

Bobbers have always been about lightweight and more power, as such the 1,200 cc engine with updated electronics and a new dual airbox/filter design enables is said to churn out more torque and power down low, compared to the T120.

The Bonneville Bobber is also fitted with a shock that is mounted underneath the seat and works on a specially designed linkage, plus an updated fork that is shorter than the T120. Like the rest of the bikes in the Bonneville range, the Bobber will come with riding modes (Road and Rain), switchable traction control, ABS, and a torque- assist clutch.

Colour options include Ironstone (with a matte finish), Morello Red, Stunning Competition Green and Frozen Silver, and Jet Black. Prices start from RM74,900 to RM75,900 (including GST, without on-the- road costs).

Street Scrambler

The Street Scrambler comes with a design-specific chassis to accommodate the higher foot pegs and longer rear shocks. It also gets its own front forks and rear shocks that increase the overall ride height.

The bike rides on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear spoked wheels, shod with Metzeler Tourance dual-sport tires. The standard ABS and traction control are switchable for off-road use. Also standard are rubber knee pads, skid plate, flat solo bench seat, aluminum rear rack, and removable passenger foot pegs.

The Street Scrambler will be available in Jet Black, Matte Khaki Green and Korosi Red, and Frozen Silver. Prices start from RM65,900 to RM67,900, depending on colour scheme.

Bonneville T100/T100 Black

Similar to the T120, styling for the new T100 and T100 Black are inspired by the iconic 1959 Bonneville, with a classically sculpted tank, a detailed engine plate, twin analogue gauges and spoked wheels.

The bikes also feature brushed aluminum covers, unique bolt-on badges and plenty of components finished in chrome. Rounding out the profile is a comfort seat finished in contrast piping with deeper foam for more comfort. Powering the pair is the liquid-cooled, eight-valve, 270-degree crank, 900 cc parallel twin powerplant.

The T100 comes in three paint schemes: Aegean Blue and Fusion White with hand painted coach lines, Intense Orange and New England White with hand painted coach lines, and Jet Black. On the other hand, the T100 Black can be had wit either gloss Jet Black or Matte Black bodywork, with blacked-out items.

Prices for the T100 and T100 Black range from RM63,900 to RM65,900.

Street Triple RS

The Street Triple RS is the flagship of Triumph Motorcycle’s new third-generation Street Triple range, which includes the lower-spec ‘S’ and ‘R’ variants that will roll into the Malaysian market at a later date.

It features a 765 cc triple-cylinder that packs 121 bhp of peak power at 11,700 rpm, 16% more than its predecessor. Apart from a quickshifter with a slipper clutch, the bike is also equipped with a ride-by- wire (RbW) system that has been improved with over 80 new parts.

The Street Triple RS gets five riding modes – Road, Rain, Sport, Track and Rider – that offer different throttle mappings, and varying levels of traction control and ABS.

On the chassis front, the bike retains the main frame of the older model, but gets a new stiffer gullwing swingarm, a new Ohlins rear shock and range-topping Showa big piston forks. There is also ABS-assisted Brembo Monobloc M50 brakes with an adjustable lever.

Currently available for viewing at Fast Bikes’ Triumph Motorcycles flagship store in Petaling Jaya, the Street Triple RS can be yours from RM66,900. It comes in Matt Silver Ice and Phantom Black.
