2017 Moto Guzzi V9 Bobber Rolls Into Malaysian Market

As promised, Moto Guzzi has officially launched the new V9 Bobber, its fourth model to be offered here in Malaysia for 2017 after the V7 III Stone, V7 III Roamer and V9 Roamer. It is priced at RM74,900 (inclusive of GST).

Like the V9 Roamer, the retro-styled V9 Bobber is also powered by a 90° transverse V-twin air and oil cooled engine with a capacity of 850 cc. Mated with a six-speed transmission, the mill makes 55 hp at 6,250 rpm and 62 Nm of torque from 3,000 rpm.

Appearance-wise, the V9 Bobber abandons any chrome plating and glossy finish for matte black details. The side panels and fuel tank are pitch black, with just a few graphic details in yellow or matte red while the exhaust unit, mirrors and both metal mudguards are painted in “dark matte”.

The 2017 V9 Bobber also differs from the V9 Roamer because of the more crouched and sporty riding position, provided by the lower, black painted handlebar and the aluminium footpegs mounted 100 mm farther back and raised 35 mm.

The chassis consists of a steel twin tube cradle frame for optimum weight distribution while the suspension systems use traditional long-travel (130 mm) forks and a pair of spring preload adjustable shock absorbers connected to the frame. The V9 Bobber rides on 16-inch wheels.

The braking system is customised for the V9: the front end adopts a master cylinder and a Brembo opposed four- piston caliper that grips a 320 mm steel disc; the rear mounts a 260 mm disc and a two-piston floating caliper operated by a master cylinder with built-in reservoir.

Like all recent Moto Guzzis, the V9 also has a full set of advanced electronic systems, which include a two-channel ABS, as well as MGTC (Moto Guzzi Traction Control) that can be adjusted in two levels and deactivated. Other standard features include an immobiliser and USB port located under the steering head.

Customers may also opt for the MG-MP, Moto Guzzi’s very own multimedia platform which allows you to connect the bike to your smartphone and consequently to the web.

The V9 Bobber is available in two colours, both with a completely matte finish: Nero Massiccio with a yellow chequered graphic on the mudguards and on the tank, and Grigio Sport with a red chequered graphic on the mudguards and on the tank.
