Be There Early For This Weekend’s Gazoo Racing Festival at This Weekend

Motor racing fans, celebrity spotters and drift aficionados are advised to come out early to the Batu Kawan Stadium to avoid missing out on all the action at this weekend’s Toyota GAZOO Racing (TGR) Festival as projections are indicating a high spectator turnout throughout the weekend.

With an action-packed weekend filled with motor racing action, celebrity appearances, food and lots of games with exclusive prizes to be won, over 10,000 spectators are expected to come out to enjoy the weekend of festivities, sounds and smells.

The highlight of the weekend must certainly be the inaugural Vios Challenge where 40 identically-built Toyota Vios take to the tracks with drivers pitting their skills against each other in three classes of races lasting 25 minutes each.

The most anticipated race must definitely be for the Promotional Category where celebrity drivers Fattah Amin, Shukri Yahaya, Diana Danielle, Janna Nick, Geraldine Gan, Danny Koo, Venice Min and Shawn Lee will be battling it out for glory.

The Vios Challenge also consists of two other race categories and this includes the Sporting Category that will feature 18 drivers, many of whom had recently graduated from the Vios Challenge Racing School and the Super Sporting Category where a dozen of the country’s top racing drivers will be competing. These top drivers include Boy Wong, Kenny Lee, James Veerapan, Syafiq Ali, Mark Darwin, Mitchel Cheah, Rocky Seow, Akina Teo and Prince of Drift Tengku Djan Ley who will be going all out to prove their capabilities in this inaugural race.

To ensure the smell of burning rubber and the sounds of engines revving emanate throughout the weekend, the Toyota GAZOO Racing (TGR) Racing Festival will also feature lots of drift action in the Car Show zone. Toyota Owners’ Club members will be given the opportunity to learn drift skills and spectators will be treated to choreographed drift shows performed using a range of Toyota cars.

Out to thrill the fans too will be Japan’s D1 Drift Champion and Drift Muscle Champion Masato Kawabata and Hideyuki Fujino respectively. Invited specially by Gold Sponsor Toyo Tires, the pair will be out to display the skills that made them champions in their home country with some awesome drift moves using their Toyota 86. Kawabata currently holds the Guiness World Record for the highest speed drift ever recorded at 304.96km/h.

For the younger visitors, there will be lots of activities to keep them entertained including dance performances, cheerleading performances, bands, games and special guest appearances for them to take photos with. For celebrity hunters, this is definitely the event to be at as there will be lots of fan engagement activities to get up close with some of Malaysia’s top celebrities.

There will be opportunities throughout the weekend to get up close with the eight Vios Challenge racing celebrities and to take wefies with them, particularly during the grid walk-about and during the celebrity meet-and-greet sessions. Luckier winners may even be selected to win a ride around the Batu Kawan race track in the Vios Challenge cars driven by their favourite celebrity.

Media Prima will also be bringing their Drama Sangat bus tour celebrities to the event and there will be various sessions throughout the day where fans will be able to meet up with them and get their hands on exclusive souvenirs.

While visitors gaze at the stars who will appear on stage, they should also not miss the opportunity to gaze at the gorgeous Toyota C-HR that is making its first appearance in the northern region in Batu Kawan. This awesome-looking machine will be on display together with the latest Toyota models that visitors will be able to view and test drive.

Of course the amazing Buy & Win Promotion remains valid, so come ready to book your favourite Toyota model and stand a chance to win a brand new Toyota Vios Sport Edition inspired by the Vios Challenge race cars or a trip to the Tokyo Motorshow.
