What is ‘Soul Red Crystal’ Paint by Mazda?
From a design standpoint, Mazda is getting a lot of things right. Paint is one of those things. Back in the old days (and even today on some cars), car manufacturers would charge different amounts for different paints. Typically, it was between ‘solid’ and ‘metallic’ paint finishes.
But as time went past, many removed this price difference. Mazda have found a way to bring an element of that back with their 3 special paints. It began with Soul Red a few years ago, when Mazda first adopted their KODO design language.
This paint was complex and required special tooling. It was also breathtaking, as it was more vivid and deeper than most reds.
When Mazda announced the MX-5 RF model, they also said they would be expanding the list of special paint variants. The new MX-5 RF (which is on sale in Malaysia) comes in a special ‘Machine Grey’ option.
And now with the latest CX-5, you can have ‘Soul Red Crystal’. Here’s what Mazda wants you to know about the colour:
