SUV Of The Year – Mazda CX-5

This was a tough, tough category. So many great contenders from Korea and Japan, but in the end the battle was won by the CX-5. To us, Mazda showed a genuine understanding of ‘premium’ design and performance. Today’s cars absolutely have to ‘transcend’. We all know we’re buying bits of plastic, steel, glass and rubber, but the product has to feel like none of those things.

The CX-5 may lose out against its rivals spec-for-spec, but this is a car that has ambition from a company that has ambition. And the base 2-litre at just RM135,000 is an incredible deal for a such a fundamentally fun and beautiful SUV.
