Proton Saga Retires Today

Last model rolls off the production line to make way for a revised version.

The current Proton Saga has been retired to make way for a brand new Proton Saga which will come with all the necessary Geely goodies.

It was introduced to the market some 3-4 years ago at pricing from RM35,568.24 to RM44,342.25.

Proton’s 3rd generation Saga arrived in showrooms in 3 trim levels: Standard, Executive and Premium. The only engine option was Proton’s 1.3-litre VVT, which produced 94hp and 120Nm of torque. There was a CVT gearbox and a 5-speed manual option for the Standard variant. The VVT engine when driven diligently provided good fuel economy of about 5.4L/100km with an ECO Drive Assist indicator.

On the inside there is 10 cubbyholes, 2-rear USB charge points. The entire rear seat bench could fold down to provide 420L of luggage space. Safety kit was high with 2 airbags, ABS with EBD and ISOFIX points.

Now we wait for the arrival of a brand new Saga with Geely engineering input and going by the reworked Persona, Exora and Iriz by Geely, we reckon Malaysians will be keen to take ownership.
