Over 21,000 road accidents this Hari Raya

More than 21,000 vehicles were involved in road accidents over the last 11 days in Malaysia which is higher than last years figures and sadly a high 120 deaths were recorded since May 29th. The police issued some 198,000 summons.

This is part of ‘Ops Selamat 15’ which started on May 29th and ends this June 12th. Focusing on major traffic offences which are,

driving in the emergency lane,

beating red lights,

cutting traffic queues,

speeding, overtaking on double lines and

using mobile phones while driving,

this operation was focused on educating drivers to have better road obedience.

How did this accident happen?

The state of Selangor recorded the highest number of accidents and this was followed by Johor, Kuala Lumpur and finally Penang.

Malaysians need to be more cautious on the road!
