Why did we finally tint the windows on our VW Golf Mk1?

What tint brand did we decide on?

We have had this car for years and we have never tinted the windows on this car for one simple reason. We hardly drive this classic and when we do we always try and park it in the shade as it is always parked under the shade at home to preserve the drop-top material as well as the 40-year-old interior. Also, the original factory glass on this car already has 15-20% tint on it.

However…..recently we were in Glenmarie to meet a client and after that we went to a restaurant in the area to have a cool drink as it was a really hot day (as it has been lately) and we bumped into a friend we have known for almost 12 years from the auto industry working for various car brands.

We did our hellos and caught up with the industry gossip and he mentioned how he liked our recent article about fake tints in the Malaysian market and how many Malaysians are getting cheated daily by fake tints and fake promises from car salesmen who promise to provide original tint with their brand new car.

This is a rising problem in Malaysia

Also, our article on how the fake tint boys are trying to muscle in on the original tint providers.

Even premium brands are affected

So, after our conversation he explained that he is no longer in the automotive line and instead he has started a window tint business and car detailing business.  He explained a little about his product and wanted us to have a look. His business was just around the corner and so we walked over.

We walked over to his shop and he showed us his product. Impressed with the information and all the while checking his information online, we decided it was time to give our 40 year classic a proper window tint and we installed Horus tint on our car.

The selling price was RM3,200.00 and it was JPJ compliant. Was it worth it? Yes, we could feel the reduced heat and driving in the midday sun we now only need to use our a/c blower at no.2 only instead or having it at no.4 and it gives our car a classier look when parked.

So why were we convinced?
