BMW S 1000 RR, R 1250 R and R 1250 RS Arrive in Malaysia

BMW Motorrad Malaysia launched three new premium motorcycles – the new S 1000 RR, R 1250 R and R 1250 RS – at the Malaysian MotoGP that took place over the weekend.

S 1000 RR (RM138,500)

Now in its third generation, the S 1000 RR features a new layout in the main frame – Flex Frame, creating a much leaner fuel tank and seating area trim sections for further improved support and knee grip.

The integrated front light design features LED technology without reflectors, combining both low and high beams in one compact element. The M Sport Package equips the superbike with the exclusive M sport seat and country-specific brake lights, along with M carbon fibre wheels.

Power comes from a newly developed 999cc, four-cylinder engine that churns out 207 hp at 13,500 rpm and 113 Nm of torque at 11,000 rpm. With the BMW ShiftCam Technology, the bike has a top speed of over 200 km/h and a fuel consumption figure of 6.4 litres per 100 km

Weighing 193.5 kg, the S 1000 RR is equipped with Dynamic Damping Control (DDC) electronic suspension. There are four standard riding modes, namely Rain, Road, Dynamic and Race.

The bike also features the Pro Modes which offers three additional riding modes – Pro 1, Pro 2 and Pro 3. These enable individual adaptation of control functions such as DTC, ABS Pro, DTC Wheelie Detection, torque adjustment and engine brake.

Launch Control is available for perfect race starts, along with the configurable Pit Lane Limiter for exact adherence to speeds in the pit lane. Ultra-fast shifting up and down without the clutch is enabled by HP Shift Assistant Pro, which comes as a standard feature.

The instrument panel has also been redesigned, featuring a 6.5-inch TFT screen with individually tailored screen displays.

R 1250 R (RM102,500) & R 1250 RS (RM106,500)

R 1250 R

The R 1250 R arrives in Style HP that features the colour combination of Lightwhite, Racing Blue and Racing Red. Matte black main frame and Night Black cast wheels provide a powerful contrast, while silver anodised fork slider tubes, gold brake calipers and stainless steel engine spoiler underscore the bike’s sporty character.

The R 1250 RS, on the other hand, arrives in Style Exclusive that features an elegant body finish in Imperial Blue, with the cylinder head covers and main frame in Agate Grey matte.

Powering the R 1250 R and R 1250 RS is a 1,254-cc boxer engine that is capable of making 136 hp at 7,750 rpm and a peak torque of 143 Nm at 6,250 rpm. The new engine offers improved emission of 110
g/km and fuel consumption levels of 4.75 litres per 100 km of travel, thanks to the BMW ShiftCam Technology.

On top of the two standard riding modes, both bikes are also equipped with Dynamic and Dynamic Pro riding modes that enable even more efficient and safe acceleration. Automatic Stability Control, Hill Start Control and Dynamic Brake Control are also included.

R 1250 RS

The two motorcycles now feature Keyless Ride and a multifunctional instrument cluster with a 6.5-inch full-colour TFT screen that can be accessed via the standard BMW Motorrad Multi-Controller.

With the Financing Plan from BMW Group Financial Services Malaysia, ownership of the S 1000 R starts from RM1,690 per month, the R 1250 R from RM1,250 per month, and the R 1250 RS from RM1,300 per month. These are based on estimates of 80% loan on a four-year tenure.
