What Will UMW Toyota Motor Launch This 17 December?
UMW Toyota Motor has confirmed that they will make severa “key announcements” this coming 17 December. So far, the teasers offer little to no clue as to what the company is bringing but it sure does sound like something very exciting is coming our way.
Could it be the widely acclaimed GR Yaris? That is very possible since UMWT did post a photo of the hot hatchback on their official Facebook page last July. Moreover, bookings for the GR Yaris have just been opened in Thailand so there’s a likelihood that the car will make it across the border very soon.
Also, Ravindran K., President of UMW Toyota Motor has something very interesting to say about the upcoming announcement: “In many ways, what will be announced during the online event on 17 December 2020 will be an industry first for Toyota, and will be the foundation to ushering in an exciting 2021.” We’ll leave you to decide what to make of it.
At the very least, UMWT could be launching the new Yaris and Vios. Of course, the pair is not as exciting as the GR Yaris and definitely not an industry-first but the launch could very well excite buyers in the B-segment who will be looking to make their purchase before the sales tax exemption period ends on 31 December.
Whatever it is, tune in to UMW Toyota Motor’s Facebook and Instagram pages or log on to www.toyota.com.my on 17 December at 7.30 pm.
Toyota is celebrating several key announcements and is extending an invitation to all Malaysians to tune in to a live online event on 17 December 2020.

We have surprise to share, and let’s just say that there’s a bit of something for everyone to appreciate especially after what has been an incredibly challenging year for Malaysians on all fronts ,” said Ravindran K., President of UMW Toyota Motor.
“In many ways, what will be announced during the online event on 17 December 2020 will be an industry first for Toyota, and will be the foundation to ushering in an exciting 2021.”
Meanwhile, UMW Toyota Motor Deputy Chairman Akio Takeyama said the brand seeks to ramp up its involvement, activities and programs in an even bigger and meaningful way in 2021. “The full details will be disclosed on 17 December 2020 but suffice to say we are going big!,” said Takeyama.
“At Toyota, we do not just build cars, we build people. Developing exceptional people is Toyota’s number one priority. Reflecting on the challenges of 2020, I have seen this same spirit being manifested to bring out the best in Malaysians who have demonstrated strength, perseverance and determination in overcoming what has undoubtedly been a very difficult 2020.
Now, it is time to move forward!”
