Proton e.MAS 7 Celebrates First Anniversary By Becoming Malaysia’s Fastest Selling EV

The Proton e.MAS 7 has sold over 3,000 units since its launch not too long ago

As Proton e.MAS marks its first anniversary, PRO-NET proudly announces that the e.MAS 7 remains the Number 1 electric vehicle in Malaysia, with 3,632 units sold as of 31 May 2025. Of these, 3,399 were sold locally and 233 exported, making it Malaysia’s fastest-selling EV, achieving this within just five months since deliveries began in January.

This milestone comes exactly one year after the Proton e.MAS brand was officially launched on 12 June 2024. Its flagship model, the e.MAS 7, introduced on 16 December 2024, has rapidly emerged as a market leader in the country’s fast-growing EV segment.

Moreover, despite broader pricing pressures across the EV market, the e.MAS 7’s continued strong performance underscores the trust Malaysians place in Proton and its commitment to quality and innovation.

“This strong show of support is incredibly encouraging,” said PRO-NET CEO Zhang Qiang. “It validates our strategy, strengthens confidence in Proton e.MAS, and affirms the value of investing in local innovation. The e.MAS 7’s success reflects the market’s direction—and we’re proud to be leading that charge.”

From the outset, e.MAS has also connected with Malaysians. Even before launch, a nationwide naming contest drew over 25,000 submissions, highlighting public anticipation for a truly homegrown EV. Plus, the vision goes beyond car sales. Over the past year, PRO-NET has actively worked to build an ecosystem that eases EV adoption.

On top of that, today, over 2,500 charging points have been integrated into the e.MAS app and vehicle interface, providing more than 90% nationwide coverage. To support customers, 44 Proton e.MAS dealerships have been appointed, 32 are already operational.

The aftersales network is also growing, with 24 3S centres currently open and six more launching soon. Meanwhile, construction of a dedicated Proton e.MAS production facility in Tanjung Malim is underway, with local vendors being brought in to support component manufacturing.

Looking forward, PRO-NET remains committed to the National Energy Transition Roadmap and the goal of net-zero emissions by 2050. The upcoming e.MAS 5 will build on current success and make EV ownership more accessible.

To celebrate the anniversary, PRO-NET has launched the Peace of Mind campaign, offering all e.MAS owners a free 32-point vehicle inspection from 1 June to 1 July 2025. “The future is electric—and proudly Malaysian.” said Zhang
