Mercedes-Benz Malaysia today launched the all-new E-Class Coupe, which will join the rest of the Dream Car Collection. The E-Class Coupe combines contemporary luxury, agile sportiness and technology at the highest level, further setting benchmarks in the premium segment of the automotive industry.
Based on the E-Class Sedan, this sporty luxury Coupe marks a next step in the evolution of the Mercedes-Benz design idiom. The dynamic looks are underlined by four frameless, fully retractable side windows and the absence of a visible B-pillar.
Equally typical of a Mercedes Benz coupe are the two-part, extremely flat LED tail lamps, which in combination with MULTIBEAM LED headlamps celebrate the world premiere of a welcoming function. When the vehicle is opened, the tail lights LEDs illuminate successively from the centre of the vehicle outwards. This is reversed when locking the car.
The interior features two brilliant 12.3″ high res displays. These are merged under a single lens to produce a Widescreen Cockpit that appears to float in space. The instrument cluster in the driver’s direct line of vision shows virtual instruments which can be represented in three different styles: “Classic”, “Sport” or “Progressive”.
Touch control buttons in the steering wheel enables the driver to control the instrument cluster and multimedia system using finger swipes without having to take a hand off the steering wheel.
Additional controls come in the form of a touchpad with controller in the centre console, which can also recognises handwriting, plus the LINGUATRONIC voice control system. There are also direct-access buttons for controlling the air-conditioning for example, and for convenient activation and deactivation of certain driver-assistance systems.
The interior lighting makes use of durable, energy-saving LEDs and is enhanced with 64-colour ambient lightning.
The suspension system outfitted on the E-Class Coupe is comfort tuned, but 15mm lower than in the sedan.
Two variants are available at launch, the E 200 Coupe AMG Line, with 184hp and 300Nm of torque capable of a 0-100km/h time of 7.8 seconds. The E 300 Coupe with 245hp and 370Nm gets there in 6.4 seconds. Both use 2-litre turbocharged petrol engines. All variants get the 9G-TRONIC 9-speed automatic transmission.
For even more exclusivity, the E 300 Coupe Edition 1 is also available in limited numbers. There are only 555 units worldwide. The Edition 1 combines the AMG Line with the Night package with 20″ AMG light-alloy wheels in exclusive designs cashmere white magno paint.
Agility financing is also available for all models. The E 200 Coupe (RM435,888) can be financed for RM4358, the E 300 Coupe (RM499,888) at RM4998 and the E 300 Coupe Edition 1 (RM534,888) at RM5348 a month for a 3 year Agility Financing tenure.
