We do love our sedans, don’t we. There’s something that feels financially sound about buying a car with a usable boot. But there’s no denying that hatchbacks look sportier. And with the new Civic Type R only being made in hatchback form, we thought it would be interesting to put the rear passenger headroom and the boot space up for a comparison.
So here’s the Civic sedan.

We didn’t go in there with a ruler, but it looks like the difference is negligible. In any case, we’re probably not going to see the hatchback EXCEPT in Type R form, so Civic buyers won’t have to make this decision. But in case you were curious, well, there’s your answer. Not much of a difference. In fact, the hatch looks like it’s easier to load.
