McLaren 765LT Gets 1,000 HP Courtesy Of Hennessey

1,000 hp sounds about right for a supercar like the 765LT

With 765 hp and 800 Nm of torque on tap, the 765LT is already one of the most powerful McLarens ever made. Nonetheless, some of the owners will be looking for ways to spice things up a bit and they’ll be glad to learn that Hennessey has developed a performance upgrade package for the long-tailed supercar.

Known as the HPE1000, the package will push the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine to 1,000 hp with freer-flowing air filters, recalibrated ECU and stainless steel exhaust system. The Texas-based tuning outfit will also throw in a chassis dyno calibration to sweeten the deal.

Performance-wise, the additional 235 hp allows the 765LT to sprint from 0 to 96 km/h in 2.1 seconds, which is 0.6 seconds faster than stock. Top speed has not been revealed but we’d imagine it can break the 330 km/h barrier.

Apart from mechanical upgrades, the HPE1000 package also includes some cosmetic add-ons such as “Hennessey” and “HPE1000” badges, and serial number plaques on the dashboard and engine cover.

According to company founder and CEO, John Hennessey, the 765LT is underrated. “We tested it on our in-house dyno and it delivered about 765 HP – at the rear wheels. This means it’s producing closer to 865 bhp in bone stock form.”

The HPE1000 package will set owners back $24,950 (RM101,646), which is a relatively insignificant amount of money for those who can afford to buy a 765LT. In Malaysia, the model is priced at RM1,488,000 before tax.
