High-Performance Hyundai IONIQ 5 N Winter Tests Ongoing

A high-performance Hyundai IONIQ 5 N is in the works, now undergoing winter testing.

Hyundai is set to debut its latest addition to the IONIQ 5 lineup in July 2023 – the IONIQ 5 N. The new electric vehicle promises to be a game-changer with its all-wheel-drive technology and high-performance capabilities.

The IONIQ 5 N is currently undergoing winter testing in Sweden, where it is being put through its paces on low-grip icy surfaces in sub-zero temperatures.

The IONIQ 5 N marks a significant shift in Hyundai’s brand evolution, as the company moves towards a new lineup of high-performance electric vehicles. The car is built on the Electrified-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), which provides a strong foundation for the vehicle’s exceptional performance.

The IONIQ 5 N is the first N brand production vehicle with all-wheel drive, a technology that has been developed through competition in the World Rally Championship since 2015. Hyundai’s participation in WRC has allowed the company to fine-tune all-surface AWD capabilities, which will be used in the IONIQ 5 N.

The vehicle also features N Drift Optimizer, a driving mode dedicated to drifting that integrates front and rear torque distribution, torque rate, suspension stiffness, steering effort, and the e-LSD system. The e-LSD system is specifically tuned for the IONIQ 5 N, providing quicker responses and accuracy for the faster-reacting torque delivery of EVs compared to ICE vehicles. This system improves handling during cornering and high-speed driving on the racetrack, as well as during driving conditions such as ice and deep snow.

Furthermore, the IONIQ 5 N uses N Torque Distribution, which allows the driver to select the torque level for both front and rear wheels, and e-LSD work together to distribute power to all four wheels in varying ratios. These systems are specifically designed for EVs, providing a smooth and seamless driving experience.

Overall, the IONIQ 5 N promises to be an exciting addition to Hyundai’s lineup, combining the company’s extensive knowledge of EV technology with its experience in motorsports. With its all-wheel-drive capabilities, N Drift Optimizer, and N Torque Distribution, the IONIQ 5 N promises to be a high-performance electric vehicle that will leave a lasting impression. Stay tuned for the official launch of the IONIQ 5 N in July 2023.
