0The One And Only Suzuki Vitara Celebrates Its 35th Anniversary
The Suzuki Vitara first debuted in May 1988 and has been stealing hearts ever since
Suzuki, this Japanese manufacturer has had a long and … well, for lack of a better word, complicated, history in Malaysia. Despite many Malaysians typically holding Japanese brands in high regard, these days it seems like Suzuki is one Japanese brand we no longer covet. Still, it does not change the absolute legend of the Suzuki Vitara, let’s look back on it.
So the Suzuki Vitara first made its debut in may of 1988, gosh, that was ten years before I was even born. Time flies, huh? Anyway, back to the birthday car, so with it being May 2023 now, we wish the one and only stylish capable off-roader SUV, the Suzuki Vitara, a happy 35th anniversary and many more in the years to come.
Moreover, the Suzuki Vitara was more than just a simple off-roader SUV, it was the first from the brand, making it a momentous occasion and the car, a historic and legendary nameplate for the brand as well as a fun and sporty looking vehicle for people with more dynamic needs, so clearly, it was a sales success for the brand.
As if all this was not impressive enough, the Suzuki Vitara in true Suzuki and Japanese fashion, still pushed on to do more. In addition to being the face of the brand’s SUV offerings, it was also slowly but surely growing a cult following over the past three decades as a result of its reliability, quirky looks and”jack of all trades” capabilities.
Now, it goes without saying that most of the younger crowd of today will probably be scratching their heads looking at the Suzuki Vitara and that is not fully their fault as Suzuki was never as famous as some other brands in the country over the past decade and the only Suzuki models most Malaysians are familiar with are the Swift and Jimny.
On top of that, some of the more mature among our readers are sure to smile from ear to ear just hearing the words Suzuki and Vitara again. This is mainly due to the fact that many among the older generation will have at least one fond memory of this off-roader SUV and will be hit with a wave of nostalgia when thinking of the SUV.
So what about you? Do you have any happy memories of the Suzuki Vitara? Perhaps you used to own one yourself? Either way, do show this car some love this month or at least take some time out of our day to appreciate all that the car and the Suzuki brand have done for Malaysians in Malaysia over the years and for the automotive industry in general.
