Why Are You Selling Your Nearly New Tesla Model 3

This Tesla Model 3 is selling for just RM2k lower than the new Tesla Malaysia selling price

Local used car classifieds more than 15 months ago saw a free fall selling price for used Tesla prices as PEKEMA importers at the time were quickly trying to sell their used and new ageing stock of Tesla electric cars. At the time as much as 50 percent discount was being offered on the older versions of the Tesla Model 3 and also the Tesla Model Y.

This ‘panic selling came after the Malaysian Tesla office announced their Model Y selling price at just RM199k which is even lower than the new selling prices of Tesla in Thailand.

It was at the time a severe ‘shock to the used car market’ as some PEKEMA members had been sitting with a large number of Tesla’s after a frantic buying spree in England and also in Australia in the earlier part of last year (2023).

Meanwhile, now we see a Tesla Malaysia car buyer selling his ‘nearly new’ Model 3 for just RM179,000 which is just RM2,000 lower than the recently reduced selling price of the Model 3 in Malaysia.

Yes Tesla Malaysia just a week ago reduced the selling price by RM8,000 which puts the brand new selling price at RM181,000 for the Tesla Model 3.

So, why would anyone buy a used unit for just a RM2k discount. And more importantly why is this Tesla owner selling his unit and losing RM10k (he bought at the original selling price)?

So, if you currently already own a Tesla (2 to 3 years old) bought from a PEKEMA showroom and plan to sell your used Tesla, you might only get anywhere between RM850k to RM90k and it is best that you keep your Tesla and not sell it as petrol prices will be rising very soon ……. very soon.
