Will this Changan Deepal come here to challenge the Tesla Cybertruck?
Deepal is set to make waves in the Australian market with the launch of its highly anticipated electric vehicle (EV) SUV/pickup truck, the E07, in late 2025. This innovative SUV/pickup hybrid, often described as a “Transformer SUV/Ute,” promises to rival other high-tech electric vehicles, potentially even challenging the Tesla Cybertruck.

At first glance, the E07 might remind some of the Holden Crewman, yet its design is much more than that. It blends the practicality of an SUV with the utility of a pickup truck. From the front, the E07 appears to be an elongated SUV with a coupe-like roofline and a low beltline. However, its rear features a vertical tailgate and an electrically powered retractable cover.
Moreover, the E07 measures 5,045mm long, 1,996mm wide and 1,680mm tall, with a 3,120mm wheelbase. The vehicle also features an automated trunk system, allowing users to switch between SUV and pickup modes in just 10 seconds. In SUV mode, the E07 provides 638 liters of cargo space, while in ute mode, this expands to 1860 liters with the second-row seats folded flat.
In terms of performance, the E07 comes in both RWD and AWD configurations. The RWD model features a 252kW motor with 342Nm of torque, going from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds. The AWD variant, however, adds a front motor for a combined 440kW and 645Nm of torque, achieving a much quicker 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.96 seconds.

On top of that, both versions are equipped with an 89.98kWh ternary lithium battery, offering a range of up to 640 km for the RWD model and 590 km for the AWD variant on a single charge. Fast charging is supported with 800V architecture, delivering up to 240kW on DC fast chargers, though the AC charging speed is capped at 7kW.
Inside, the E07 boasts a minimalist yet high-tech cabin. The dashboard features a 15.4-inch infotainment touchscreen and a head-up display, complemented by features such as OTA updates, a 50W wireless charger and a remote car control system. It also includes “zero-gravity” front seats designed to reduce spine pressure on long drives, with ventilation and memory seats.
With its advanced technology, luxurious features, and versatile design, the Deepal E07 is poised to make a strong impact in the electric vehicle market and could be a formidable competitor to the Tesla Cybertruck. I know I would love to see it, would you?
