2025 Land Rover Defender Gets Smarter, Tougher and More Capable

The Land Rover Defender gets a minor update to keep it fresh through 2025.

Land Rover has refreshed its Defender range for 2025, enhancing the legendary off-roader’s tech, design, and functionality across all body styles – including the extreme-performance Defender OCTA. The updates apply to the Defender 90, 110, 130, and OCTA, reinforcing the brand’s reputation for delivering rugged vehicles with modern refinement.

Refined Exterior, Functional Enhancements

The new Defender models sport redesigned LED headlights with a sharper daytime running light signature and flush-mounted smoked tail lights for a sleeker look. Updates also include a standard gloss black grille bar, new Defender-branded centre caps, and a textured bonnet and side vent pattern for a more assertive stance.

New colour choices include Borasco Grey, inspired by California’s silver mines, and Woolstone Green, referencing the UK’s natural landscapes.

A new 22-inch Diamond Turned Dark Grey alloy wheel joins the options list, while OCTA variants also receive exclusive Sargasso Blue and a Patagonia White Matte Wrap finish arriving in late 2025.

Interior and Tech Upgrades

Inside, all Defender variants benefit from a larger 13.1-inch touchscreen positioned above a revised dash-mounted gear selector for easier access. The redesigned centre console improves storage usability, especially with the optional Signature Suite, which includes removable side pockets with cable routing.

For increased practicality, a front centre ‘jump seat’ is available on most models, enabling three-across front seating.

New Off-Road Tech and Driver Assistance

Defender introduces Adaptive Off-Road Cruise Control for the first time. This evolution of All Terrain Progress Control allows the driver to set a comfort level for navigating rough terrain, letting the system manage speed over challenging surfaces.

Another new feature is the Driver Attention Monitor, which uses a driver-facing camera to issue alerts when attention lapses are detected. The system is customisable via the vehicle’s driver assistance settings.

Defender OCTA: Top-Tier Off-Road Performance

The range-topping Defender OCTA now features a 635PS 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8, innovative 6D Dynamics suspension, and Body and Soul performance seats.

The new Textured Graphite finish adds a rugged edge, with optional Chopped Carbon Fibre accents available inside and out.

OCTA models also offer a wide range of customisation options, including forged 20-inch wheels, Matte Protective Film, and four distinct interior themes.

Accessories and Practical Features

Owners can choose from Explorer, Adventure, and Urban accessory packs, now with new black variants of the Expedition Roof Rack, Cross Bars, and Undershield. Matte black bonnet decals and dark rear scuff plates add style, while fixed and deployable side steps improve access.

Defender 130 now supports an integrated air compressor—ideal for adjusting tyre pressures in remote conditions. OCTA further expands its adventure-ready credentials with a 4,500kg-rated integrated winch under a chopped carbon fibre cover.
