The Porsche Taycan is an EV like no other on the market.
We’ve driven our fair share of electric vehicles at DSF.my, but the new Porsche Taycan? It’s something else entirely. As an electric flagship from a brand renowned for everyday sports car, the Taycan is the culmination of decades of racing excellence and technical innovation.
Porsche’s DNA runs deep in this machine. From the legendary 918 Spyder to the dominant 919 Hybrid that brought home a record-breaking 19 overall victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Porsche has learned how to harness electric performance under the harshest conditions. These lessons gave rise to Mission E, the concept that laid the foundation for what the Taycan would become—a high-performance electric vehicle that stays true to the brand’s motorsport pedigree. And now in its facelifted form, with upgraded range, fastest-in-class charging, better regenerative braking and so much more.

Let’s start with the suspension. Porsche has completely reimagined their air suspension setup, moving from a 3-chamber system to a clever 2-chamber, 2-valve design. You might assume fewer chambers mean reduced performance, but the opposite is true. The new setup enhances driving precision, dynamics, and comfort.
Performance numbers are nothing short of astounding. The Taycan Turbo S now rockets from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.4 seconds—0.4 seconds quicker than before—while the Turbo GT achieves this in just 2.2 seconds. It’s exhilarating, and thanks to Porsche Active Ride, you stay composed and connected even when carving through corners at speed.

The rear electric motor is now 10 kg lighter and more compact, while the thermal management system has been overhauled. It now uses battery waste heat to warm the cabin and optimize cell performance—real engineering with everyday usability in mind.
And what about range? With the optional Performance Battery Plus, the Taycan can travel up to 678 km (WLTP) on a single charge. But it’s not just battery size—Porsche has fine-tuned energy management and made the regenerative braking system 15% more effective at lower speeds. Up to 400 kW of energy can be recovered during braking and reused.
Charging is quick too. Hook it up to an 800-volt fast charger, and you’ll go from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes. All Porsche Centres in Malaysia now offer complimentary 350 kW DC charging for Taycan owners. The Porsche x Shell Recharge High Performance Charging (HPC) network further extends this convenience, offering cross-border access across Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand—making long-distance EV travel seamless and stress-free.

The lighting system is equally impressive. Matrix LED headlights not only deliver superb visibility but adapt in real-time to road and traffic conditions. For added flair, an illuminated ‘PORSCHE’ logo across the rear light bar is available.
In Malaysia, Porsche has not skimped on the details. Expect 20-inch wheels, a surround-view camera system that makes parking effortless, and ultra-comfortable 14-way adjustable front seats. The BOSE premium sound system delivers a rich and immersive listening experience, perfectly complementing the refined atmosphere of the cabin.

The Taycan is more than just another electric car with a Porsche badge. It’s a glimpse into the future of performance driving—lightweight, luxurious, and electrified, but still unmistakably Porsche. Best of all, it fits easily into everyday life, whether you’re navigating weekday commutes or chasing corners on the weekend.
