Volvo Padel Open Returns as Malaysia’s Largest Padel Tournament

The Volvo Padel Open 2025 is set to be the largest padel tournament in Malaysia.

Volvo Car Malaysia is once again championing the sport of padel with the return of the Volvo Padel Open, now set to become the largest padel tournament in Malaysia. In collaboration with Padelground, PadelKu, and new partner Joy Division Padel, this year’s event will run from 21 June to 27 July 2025, offering fresh match formats, expanded categories, and community-building initiatives for both new and seasoned players.

With an expected participation of up to 320 players, the tournament is designed to cater to a wide range of skill levels—from beginners discovering the sport to advanced enthusiasts who have played in regional competitions. The initiative aligns with Volvo’s brand values of inclusivity, innovation, and sustainability, while encouraging active lifestyles and social connection.

“Volvo and padel have become synonymous in Malaysia,” said Patricia Yaw, Marketing Operations & PR Director of Volvo Car Malaysia. “The Volvo Padel Open isn’t just a tournament; it’s a celebration of community, growth, and shared values.”

To nurture the fast-growing padel scene, Volvo is offering free coaching clinics, stylish sports kits, court-side access to the finals, and exclusive Volvo hospitality. These initiatives are aimed at making the sport more accessible and enjoyable for everyone, particularly newcomers looking to build confidence and connections.

Padel, a dynamic doubles racket sport that originated in the 1960s, is now the fastest-growing sport globally, with over 25 million players across 110 countries. In Malaysia, its popularity continues to surge thanks to its fast-paced gameplay, approachable learning curve, and strong social element.

The involvement of established padel clubs like Padelground and PadelKu—alongside new entrant Joy Division Padel—ensures a well-rounded, professionally managed tournament experience. Sean U’ren-Szeto of Joy Division Padel highlighted the opportunity to “support the next generation of homegrown padel champions,” while Thomas Ryard of Padelground noted that “the best padel games are measured in smiles, not points.”

Registration for the Volvo Padel Open begins on 3 June 2025 and ends on 3 July, or once slots are filled. For more information, visit www.volvocars.com/my or follow Volvo Car Malaysia on Facebook and Instagram.
