Jeep Grand Cherokee owners are urged to act as Stellantis recalls over 121,000 SUVs due to faulty second-row headrests that could pose a safety risk.
Stellantis, the automaker behind Jeep and Chrysler, has announced a major recall affecting 121,398 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs in the United States due to a headrest safety issue.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the recall involves second-row head restraints that may fail to lock in the upright position. A faulty headrest could fold forward unexpectedly, increasing the risk of injury to passengers in certain types of crashes.

The NHTSA notice explains:
“A head restraint that is folded forward may increase the risk of injury to seat occupants in certain types of crashes.”
Models Affected
The recall applies to 2023–2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Grand Cherokee L models.

What Owners Should Do
Stellantis will notify affected owners by mail starting September 5, 2025. Owners can take their vehicles to an authorized Jeep dealership for a free inspection and replacement of both second-row head restraints if needed.

Previous Jeep Recall
This isn’t the first recall for Jeep this year. In January 2025, Stellantis recalled over 63,000 Jeep Cherokees due to a defect that could cause sudden power loss and affect parking.
Jeep Grand Cherokee is a popular choice among SUV enthusiasts. While this affected model was never sold in Malaysia, perhaps you know of someone who owns one and can forward them this information as it may save their life.
Owners of affected vehicles should take action immediately to ensure passenger safety. As automakers incorporate advanced features and seating designs, recalls like this highlight the importance of timely safety checks and manufacturer updates.
