Defender OCTA Black: Land Rover’s darkest SUV Yet.
Land Rover has revealed the Defender OCTA Black, a bold new evolution of its most powerful and capable Defender ever. Combining aggressive styling with uncompromising off-road and on-road performance, the Defender OCTA Black builds on the recent OCTA V8 model but takes it to a ‘darker’ place.
Finished in Narvik Black, the darkest and most dramatic paint in the Defender palette, the OCTA Black commands attention. As many as 30 exterior components have been finished in black, giving this high-performance 4×4 an even more purposeful and stealthy presence. Clients can also opt for an optional Matte Protective Film to further enhance its menacing appearance.
Signature styling elements include Satin Black Powder Coat finishes on the front undershield and rear scuff plates, Gloss Black tow eye covers, and quad exhaust tips. Even hidden elements like the underbody protection, exhaust silencer cover, and optional deployable towbar are detailed in Gloss or Satin Black. A black Land Rover oval badge with darkened silver script adds to the premium blacked-out look.
The Defender OCTA Black rides on a choice of 20-inch forged alloy wheels or 22-inch Gloss Black wheels, paired with Gloss Black brake calipers featuring contrasting Sentient Silver script. The result is a visual identity that matches the OCTA’s fearsome capability.
Inside, the OCTA Black continues its dark transformation. For the first time in any Defender, Ebony Semi-Aniline Leather with Kvadrat™ textile is used for the Performance Seats, delivering a luxurious yet durable cabin feel. Unique perforation patterns and bold Carpathian Grey finishes on seat backs and armrests elevate the interior further. A Satin Black Powder Coat Cross Car Beam and optional Chopped Carbon Fibre trim complete the cabin’s tough-luxury aesthetic.
Under the hood, the Defender OCTA Black is powered by a 635PS 4.4-litre Twin-Turbo mild-hybrid V8, supported by the revolutionary 6D Dynamics suspension and OCTA Mode—designed for high-speed off-road driving. The SUV also features Body and Soul Seats (BASS), developed in partnership with SUBPAC™, allowing front passengers to physically feel their music through AI-enhanced vibro-acoustic technology powered by a 700W Meridian™ Surround Sound System.
The Defender OCTA Black joins the regular OCTA lineup, which now includes new colourways such as Sargasso Blue and Borasco Grey, alongside existing hues like Charente Grey and Petra Copper. A Patagonia White Matte Wrap will also be available in late 2025.
