PUSPAKOM Introduces Seven-Day Operations at Glenmarie and Batu Caves Centres

Puspakom will make 7-day availability to centres in Penang and Johor Bahru soon.

In a major step toward improving customer convenience, PUSPAKOM will extend operating hours at its Glenmarie and Batu Caves inspection centres to seven days a week, starting 26 July 2025. This change will run as part of a three-month trial and marks a significant milestone in the company’s ongoing transformation to enhance accessibility and service efficiency.

Following this Klang Valley rollout, PUSPAKOM plans to gradually extend the seven-day model to Penang and Johor Bahru, with other high-traffic locations expected to follow.

Why the Change?

According to Mahmood Razak Bahman, CEO of PUSPAKOM, this move responds directly to customer feedback:

“We understand that many vehicle owners can only come for inspections on weekends. This is our commitment to deliver smoother, more customer-centric experiences across our centres.”

The decision comes after a successful daily service pilot at Glenmarie in 2024, which helped reduce peak-time congestion and provided more flexibility for working adults.

Part of a Bigger Transformation

Daily operations are just one aspect of PUSPAKOM’s ambitious transformation plan. The company has invested heavily in digital and operational upgrades to modernise its inspection services, including:

  • Upgrading its proprietary CAVIS system for enhanced diagnostics.
  • Integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) to boost accuracy and speed.
  • Future EV inspection lanes to support the Low Carbon Mobility Blueprint 2021-2030.

“These innovations underscore our readiness to meet future regulatory and industry demands,” Mahmood added.

Puspakom was Malaysia’s first licensed Malaysian vehicle inspection company and was established 31 years ago. Despite being a privately owned company they were given a monopoly over the vehicle inspection business by the Malaysian government. This monopoly is currently under threat and Puspakom is finally ‘waking up’ to the realities of its situation. In its 3 decades of existence, Puspakom has opened 53 inspection centres, 30 visit sites and 50 mobile units to service over 4 million inspections a year. It’s no mystery why lines are long and many private customers prefer to use a runner for around 5X the stated RM30 inspection cost. Opening their centres over the weekend is not likely to make a significant impact on public perception of Puspakom, but it’s a step in the right direction.
