Jaecoo J5 Makes Malaysian Preview at Omoda Jaecoo Carnival 2025
The Omoda Jaecoo Carnival 2025, held from 21st to 24th August at Desa Park City, played host to two exciting previews – the luxury Omoda C9 PHEV and the all-new Jaecoo J5 crossover. Positioned as a B-segment SUV, the Jaecoo J5 introduces a new audience to the brand’s philosophy of attainable luxury and modern practicality.
With dimensions of 4,380 mm long, 1,860 mm wide, and 1,650 mm tall, the J5 strikes a balance between a commanding road presence and everyday usability. Its 2,620 mm wheelbase and 18-inch alloy wheels with 235/55 R18 tyres deliver both stability and style.
Power comes from a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, producing 108 kW (147 PS) and 210 Nm of torque. Advanced features like intake integrated intercooling and an integrated exhaust manifold cylinder head boost efficiency, while the CVT gearbox ensures smooth and responsive driving. Fuel economy is rated at 7.5 litres/100 km (WLTC), making it an economical choice for daily use.
Inside, the five-seater cabin is finished in full faux leather upholstery and offers generous practicality with 480 litres of boot space, expandable to 1,180 litres with the rear seats folded. With TÜV-certified pet-friendly materials, the J5 is designed for families, pet owners, and urban explorers alike.
Technology takes centre stage with a 13.2-inch 2K touchscreen, 8-inch LCD instrument cluster, and an 8-speaker sound system. A class-leading 1.45 metre squared panoramic moonroof floods the interior with natural light, while Level 2.5 ADAS safety features and a 540-degree HD Surround View camera enhance peace of mind.
