Porsche Malaysia Expanding To Borneo With Premium Partner

Its about time Porsche expanded its reach to Borneo to cater to the wealthy car buyers

For decades, private car importers (AP Holders) have been a great time importing and selling popular Porsche models, including the all popular Cayenne SUV to wealthy Sarawakians and Sabahans.

Yes, the wealthy Malaysians in East Malaysia could not buy a brand new Porsche with full Porsche approved after sales and factory warranty as there was NO official Porsche centre in both states.

Meanwhile, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Lexus and Volvo have been enjoying brisk sales of their high end models in both states.

Now comes news that a well established premium vehicle dealer in Borneo is about to open a brand new Porsche Centre with a full lineup of new and also pre-approved Porsche models giving the many wealthy Malaysians in both states the peace of mind Porsche ownership.

There are no official announcements or reports about Porsche Center Malaysia expanding to Borneo; all available information indicates that Porsche’s expansion efforts in Malaysia focus on its assembly facility in Kulim, Kedah, which assembles vehicles for the local market and exports them to Thailand.

While Porsche has a strong presence with centers in Peninsular Malaysia, there is no public information regarding a physical expansion of its services or dealerships into Borneo.

Key Information:

Porsche’s Malaysian Expansion: Porsche has established a local assembly facility in Kulim, Kedah, its first outside of Europe, in partnership with Sime Darby.

Assembly Facility Growth: This facility was expanded in July 2024 to include a new assembly line for a second model, the Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid Coupé.

Regional Export: The expanded facility now assembles and exports a locally-assembled Porsche model to the Thailand market.

Did you know that the Malaysian assembled Cayenne S E-Hybrid Coupé for Thailand features enhanced standard equipment, including HD Matrix LED headlights, 20-inch Cayenne Design wheels, and a luxurious interior with a GT Sports steering wheel and BOSE Surround Sound System. This model combines a powerful 3.0-litre V6 turbo engine with an electric motor, delivering a system output of 519 PS and an electric-only range of up to 90 km.

Interestingly, this sales expansion to Borneo will also have Porsche electric vehicles on offer to a new customer base.
