Great Wall Motor (GWM) is preparing to launch the all-new WEY G9 in Malaysia, marking a major milestone as the first Chinese premium new energy MPV to be locally assembled here. With a starting price expected to be below RM300,000, the WEY G9 combines cutting-edge hybrid technology, advanced safety, and first-class comfort for Malaysian families. A Premium MPV Made in Malaysia
The right-hand drive (RHD) WEY G9 will be produced in Malaysia and exported to neighbouring countries like Thailand and Indonesia, reinforcing GWM’s global strategy of “All Scenarios · All Powertrains · All Users.” This move positions Malaysia as a hub for GWM’s regional premium vehicle operations.

Built on a fortress-like structure, the WEY G9 has earned a prestigious C-NCAP 5-star safety rating. It features an industry-leading triple high-strength steel safety cage, large-size curtain airbags covering all three rows, a four-longitudinal and seven-cross chassis structure for crash energy absorption, and quadruple battery safety protection tested across 89 rigorous scenarios. These innovations ensure maximum protection for every passenger.
Luxury and Comfort for All
Inside, the WEY G9 is designed as a mobile living room. Second-row passengers enjoy zero-gravity Nappa leather seats with massage, ventilation, and one-touch reset functions. Adding to the luxury is a 12.5L intelligent refrigerator with dual access for front and rear passengers, capable of cooling, heating, or fresh-keeping items. Flexible sliding seat layouts and an expandable 233L–1725L luggage capacity make it perfect for family trips.
Hybrid Power and Efficiency
Under the hood, the G9 is powered by a 1.5T engine paired with a dual-motor hybrid system and a 4-speed DHT transmission. Together, they deliver 325 kW (442 hp) and 642 Nm torque, with a top speed of 200 km/h. The plug-in hybrid system offers up to 170 km of pure electric driving and a combined range of 1,000 km (NEDC). Fast charging from 30–80% takes just 26 minutes, making it practical for both city commutes and long journeys.
