The Lexus IS facelifted sports sedan has been revealed.
Lexus has officially premiered the new IS sports sedan on September 9, marking the latest evolution of one of the brand’s most iconic models. Set to go on sale in various markets starting in early 2026, the new IS refines its winning formula of bold design, driving enjoyment, and advanced technology.
Since its debut in 1999, the IS has represented Lexus’ pursuit of pure driving enjoyment as a compact FR (front-engine, rear-wheel drive) sports sedan. Over more than 25 years, the model has achieved 1.3 million cumulative sales across 40 countries, becoming a symbol of the Lexus Driving Signature — performance tuned for precise handling, comfort, and control. The pre-facelift of this generation was first shown in 2020.
Two Variants: IS 300h and IS 350
The latest IS lineup introduces two models: the IS 300h hybrid and the IS 350. Development focused on “Refinement in performance and design”, with engineers enhancing the sedan’s signature driving dynamics and sporty aesthetics.
Key updates include:
- New Electric Power Steering (EPS) with variable gear ratio, delivering more precise steering response in corners and intersections.
- Linear-solenoid Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) for improved stability, comfort, and reduced road shock.
- Enhanced balance between agility and ride comfort, providing a more natural “dialogue” between driver and car.
Aggressive New Exterior Design
Visually, the new IS reinforces its reputation for sharp styling. A redesigned front fascia emphasizes a low center of gravity and wide stance, giving the sedan a bold and commanding road presence.
The F SPORT variant adds further dynamism with:
- A new rear spoiler engineered for better aerodynamics.
- Freshly designed 19-inch lightweight aluminum wheels.
- Optional red brake calipers with Lexus branding.
- An expanded eight-color lineup, including the new Neutrino Gray, a metallic shade crafted to reflect movement and energy.
Driver-Focused Interior
Inside, the IS adopts a driver-centric layout with Lexus’ latest Tazuna Concept for intuitive ergonomics.
The interior combines sporty materials with cutting-edge technology, highlighted by:
- A larger 12.3-inch touchscreen center display.
- A fully digital 12.3-inch instrument cluster.
- Distinctive Forged Bamboo trim, blending sustainability with sporty visual energy.
- A new Prominence interior color, inspired by solar flares, exclusive to the F SPORT.
- Ambient illumination with 14 preset themes and 50 customizable colors.
Advanced Safety and Driver Assistance
The new IS is equipped with the latest Lexus Safety System+, featuring expanded functions such as Proactive Driving Assist, improved Pre-Collision System (PCS) with night cyclist and daytime motorcycle detection, and Radar Cruise Control with enhanced lane recognition. Also debuting is Lexus Teammate Advanced Drive, offering hands-off highway driving support in traffic jams, easing long-distance travel with greater safety and comfort.
