The Mazda CX-80 has made its debut in Malaysia as a fully-imported flagship from Japan.
Bermaz Motor has officially introduced the Mazda CX-80 in Malaysia, positioning it as the brand’s new flagship three-row SUV. Larger and more premium than the CX-60 and CX-8, the CX-80 brings Mazda’s latest design, safety, and engineering philosophies into the upper end of the SUV market. Fully imported (CBU) from Japan, the CX-80 will be available from RM330,000.

Powertrain and Driving Dynamics
At the heart of the Mazda CX-80 lies the brand’s advanced Large Architecture Platform, built on Mazda’s Skyactiv Multi-Solution Scalable Architecture. This foundation not only enhances driving refinement and handling but also enables Mazda’s latest Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) technology.

The CX-80 is powered by the 2.5L e-Skyactiv PHEV system, which combines a Skyactiv-G 2.5-litre four-cylinder direct-injection petrol engine (189 hp, 261 Nm) with a high-output electric motor (172 hp, 270 Nm). Energy for the motor comes from a 17.8 kWh lithium-ion battery, offering strong responsiveness and improved efficiency.

Together, the hybrid system produces a combined 323 hp and 500 Nm of torque, enabling brisk acceleration and confident cruising. The CX-80 reaches a top speed of 195 km/h and offers up to 65 km of pure electric, zero-emission driving. On efficiency, it achieves a WLTP combined fuel consumption of just 1.6L/100 km with CO₂ emissions as low as 36 g/km, making it one of Mazda’s cleanest and most efficient SUVs to date.

The CX-80’s advanced suspension system incorporates double wishbones at the front and a multi-link system at the rear, meticulously tuned to deliver a harmonious fusion of precise steering and composed ride comfort across diverse road conditions. Complementing this is Mazda’s i-ACTIV AWD system, which continuously monitors road conditions to optimize torque distribution, thereby enhancing grip and stability. Kinematic Posture Control further refines cornering balance by subtly adjusting brake force to individual wheels, thereby reducing body roll and maintaining composure throughout every maneuver. Driver aids such as Hill Descent Control (HDC) and regenerative braking enhance safety while simultaneously improving efficiency by capturing energy during deceleration.

To cater to every driving mood and circumstance, Mazda’s Mi-Drive system offers selectable modes that adjust throttle response, steering feel, and transmission behavior. Combined with meticulous sound insulation and chassis tuning, the CX-80 provides a serene and quiet cabin where drivers can fully appreciate its dynamic capabilities and feel a profound connection to the road.
