Selangor Strengthens Ties with Chery Through Visit to Wuhu, China

A Selangor state delegation recently visited Chery International Park in Wuhu, highlighting the deepening partnership between the Malaysian state and one of China’s fastest-growing automotive groups. The visit marks a key milestone in Chery’s ongoing RM2 billion investment in Selangor and its commitment to building a world-class automotive hub in Malaysia.

Advanced Robotics at Chery’s Manufacturing Plant

During the tour of Chery’s automobile manufacturing facility, the delegation was impressed by the extensive use of robotics in welding and assembly. Almost all major processes are automated, with only fine detailing and quality checks requiring human technical expertise. This level of automation demonstrates Chery’s maturity in adopting advanced manufacturing technologies.

Delegates also had the opportunity to test drive several Chery models, further showcasing the brand’s innovation and product range.

AiMOGA: Chery’s Humanoid Robot

One highlight of the visit was experiencing AiMOGA, a humanoid robot developed by Chery. Capable of walking, understanding speech, and responding in 11 languages, AiMOGA has already been deployed in several 4S showrooms worldwide. With around 220 units shipped globally, the technology is proving to be market-ready and commercially viable.

Meeting with Chery Chairman Yin Tongyue

The delegation also met with Mr. Yin Tongyue, Chairman of Chery, to discuss progress on the company’s investment in Selangor. Discussions focused on strengthening local supply chains, technology transfer, and creating opportunities for local businesses and talent.

Chery’s RM2 Billion Smart Auto Industrial Park in Selangor

Chery is investing more than RM2 billion over five years to develop the Chery Smart Auto Industrial Park in Beringin High-Tech Auto Valley, Hulu Selangor. Key highlights of this project include:

  • Construction of a manufacturing plant with an initial production capacity of 100,000 vehicles annually, scalable up to 300,000 units.
  • Development of a smart automotive ecosystem involving local supply chains, vocational training, and innovations across petrol, hybrid, plug-in hybrid (PHEV), and battery electric vehicles (BEVs).
  • Integration of advanced automation and energy-efficient technologies to position Selangor as a leading automotive hub.
