Honda Motor Is Not Stirred By The Current Automotive Disrupters

Honda Motors’ long-term goal for 2026 is to strengthen its business structure for the transition to a fully electrified future while achieving specific financial and operational targets. 

In a regional question and answers session with the senior Honda Management and the attending press at the Tokyo headquarters (pictured below) they echoed this direction and more.

More, being, Honda Motor is not going to be rattled by the fast paced Chinese auto manufacturers in Asia as Honda will continue to provide buyers with high quality vehicles with cutting edge safety and market leading after sales.

Plus, Honda vehicles continue to stay ahead in used car values and low running costs against NEW rivals.

They also have ample spare parts to put customers back on the road as the shortest period of time (social media can confirm this). 

The “Honda 0 Series” models launched in the late 2020s are expected to feature advanced, next-generation autonomous driving (AD) and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), building on its current Level 3 automated driving technology.

Honda Motor key initiatives for 2026 include.

Global Launch of the “Honda 0 Series“: Honda will begin rolling out its new global EV series, the “Honda 0 Series,” in 2026. This is based on a new development approach, “Thin, Light, and Wise”.

Meanwhile, starting in 2026, Honda will begin adopting its new “Honda e: Architecture,” an integrated hardware and software EV platform.

For the local Japanese market there will be two new small-size EV models, including an SUV type, which will be launched and this lead to launches in ASEAN nations as well.

A compact EV emphasising driving enjoyment (the “Super-ONE Prototype”) is also planned for launch in Japan and other compact EV markets.

The “Saloon,” the flagship model of the 0 Series, is planned for a market launch very similar to its concept model unveiled at CES 2024.

Lets not forget about ‘Motorcycle Electrification’ as Honda plans to globally introduce a total of 10 or more electric motorcycle models by 2026 and there was the first 2 shown at Japan Mobility Show 2025.

There is ‘Long-Term Vision’ (Beyond 2026) where these 2026 goals are stepping stones toward Honda’s larger, long-term objectives.

100% Zero-Emission Vehicle Sales which mean achieving 100% battery-electric and fuel cell electric vehicle (EV/FCEV) sales globally by 2040.

Then there is Carbon Neutrality. Realising carbon neutrality across all products and corporate activities by 2050.

Transforming its business model from hardware sales to a recurring business that offers continuous value through software-defined mobility and advanced connected technologies.

Finally, Honda wants ‘Zero Traffic Fatalities’ for both 4 wheels and 2 wheels, especially in ASEAN countries. The company is striving for zero traffic collision fatalities involving Honda motorcycles and automobiles as the years move along.
