Malayan Xpedition A 5 Day 4 Night Overland Journey

Adventure Meets Safety And Sets The Overland Wheels In Motion

Early on Sunday, 12 October, the convoy of 103 vehicles rolled out from Genting Highlands, beginning a five-day overland adventure deep into Pahang’s rainforest. Participants navigated muddy trails, river crossings, forested night drives, and jungle treks, fully immersed in Malaysia’s raw terrain.

The expedition concluded at Cherating, Kuantan where a closing ceremony allowed participants to share stories and celebrate their journey.

Whether newcomers or seasoned off-roaders, participants had a journey tailored to their experience, with two carefully designed routes, tailored to different levels of experience and skill:

  • Initiation Route: Catered to first timers and families seeking a light-core experience filled with scenic drives and photo stops:
  • Adventure Route: pushed experienced 4×4 drivers through medium-core challenges, including muddy trails, technical climbs, river crossings, and adrenaline-fuelled obstacles.

Both routes shared one mission: to celebrate the spirit of exploration while showcasing Malaysia’s rich and diverse landscape. Prior to departure, all participating 4WDs underwent thorough inspections to ensure maximum safety throughout the expedition.

To further reinforce safety and preparedness, GWM hosted an off-road training session at M4TREC on 27 September. The session welcomed a diverse group of 38 participants, including GWM owners, media representatives, key opinion leaders (KOLs), dealers, and MX participants.

The training covered essential off-road techniques such as hill descent control, navigating bumpy train, and the effective use of vehicle features like differential lockers and low gear. This initiative ensured that all participants, regardless of background – were equipped with the skills and confidence to tackle the challenges ahead safely and responsibly.

4Wheels Fest and Adventure Fest

The journey was set in motion by the 4Wheels Fest and Adventure Fest, held at Awana Genting on 11 – 12 October. Serving as the official launchpad for the expedition, the festival brought together off-road enthusiasts, manufacturers, and outdoor lifestyle communities for a weekend of adrenaline and camaraderie. Highlights included:

  • RedSpring’s modified Porsche Cayenne, blending luxury and off-road capability.
  • Ford Raptor Community showcase at the Driving Range.
  • Demonstrations by leading 4WD accessory brands, including TJM, Pedders, Tough Dog, and Ironman 4×4.
  • MK Magnet’s custom expedition-inspired scent, crafted to evoke the spirit of the journey.

By combining lifestyle, adventure, and automotive performance, the festival set the tone for the Malayan Xpedition itself.

Strengthening Malaysia’s Off-Road Community

As a pioneer in Malaysia’s off-road adventure scene, By The Billions (BTB) continues to champion safe, skillful, and inclusive off-road experiences, aiming to grow Malaysia’s off-road community while fostering connections among enthusiasts, families, and adventurers alike.

Overland

Last month, BTB formalised MOUs with the Malaysia 4WD Training and Experience Centre (M4TREC) and the Sabah 4WD Association (SFWDA), ensuring safety, skill-building, and community growth remain central to the expedition’s future.
