Proton Launches First DC Charging Hub in Tanjung Malim, Open to All EV Owners

Proton now has a DC Charging Hub in Tanjung Malim for all EV owners.

Proton New Energy Technology Sdn Bhd (PRO-NET), a subsidiary of PROTON, has officially launched its first standalone DC Charging Hub at the carmaker’s Tanjung Malim headquarters.

Unlike previous facilities run by third-party operators, this new hub is fully owned and managed by PRO-NET, signalling PROTON’s growing capability to build and operate its own EV charging infrastructure.

Charging for All EV Brands

The hub, located at the administration building of PROTON Tanjung Malim, features two DC chargers with four bays, offering a combined output of 120kW. Up to four electric vehicles can charge simultaneously, and importantly, the hub is open to all EV owners, not just Proton e.MAS or smart customers.

By securing the ST EVCS License, PRO-NET ensures the facility is inclusive and compliant, supporting the wider rollout of EV infrastructure across Malaysia.

Simple, Affordable, and App-Free

One of the hub’s biggest highlights is its app-free charging experience. Users can simply scan a QR code to access a web-based interface for payments and session management. Owners of Proton e.MAS and smart EVs can also continue to use the e.MAS app and Hello smart app for a seamless experience.

To make EV adoption more attractive, Proton has set the charging rate at RM0.80 per kWh, one of the most affordable in Malaysia. As part of the launch celebration, users enjoy a 50% discount throughout October 2025, paying only RM0.40 per kWh.

Tanjung Malim: Malaysia’s EV Hub

With Proton’s EV production plant set to begin operations in Tanjung Malim, the town is quickly shaping up to become the heart of Malaysia’s EV industry, creating jobs, developing local talent, and driving the nation’s transition to electric mobility.

With its first DC Charging Hub, Proton is not only reinforcing its EV ambitions but also signalling a shift in how national automakers can shape Malaysia’s charging landscape. By offering affordable, app-free charging and opening the facility to all brands, PROTON sets a precedent that could accelerate the nation’s transition to electrified mobility while making Tanjung Malim the epicentre of Malaysia’s EV future.
