Volvo Car Malaysia (VCM) is raising the benchmark in Malaysia’s premium car segment by rebranding its pioneering aftersales assurance initiative as the Volvo Genuine Parts Extended Warranty programme. This industry-first program offers an unlimited, lifetime warranty at no extra charge on eligible Volvo Genuine Parts installed at authorized Volvo dealerships nationwide.
This assurance is tailored for customers whose Volvo cars have exceeded the standard manufacturer’s warranty, underscoring VCM’s commitment to customer satisfaction and reducing the total cost of long-term ownership.
Key Benefits of the Extended Warranty
The Volvo Genuine Parts Extended Warranty provides peace of mind for owners beyond the initial vehicle warranty period.
- Lifetime Coverage: Offers a lifetime warranty on Volvo Genuine Parts against defects in materials or workmanship.
- Cost Inclusion: Labour costs are included for covered repairs when performed at authorized Volvo service centres.
- Zero Extra Cost: There is no additional cost beyond the original part and installation price.
- Unlimited Replacements: Parts covered can be replaced an unlimited number of times, subject to specified exceptions.
- Chain Reaction Failure: If a defective covered part causes a failure in other parts eligible under this warranty, those secondary parts will also be replaced free of charge.
- Global Coverage: Covers eligible parts that require replacement by an authorized Volvo workshop in a different country participating in the extended warranty programme, if the defect occurs there.
- Remanufactured Parts: Eligible remanufactured Volvo Genuine Parts are also covered.
Exclusions and Requirements
While the coverage is extensive, certain items and conditions apply for eligibility.
- Exclusions: The extended warranty does not cover wholesale, over-the-counter, consumables, batteries, accessories, and wear-and-tear parts.
- Eligibility Date: Parts must have been purchased and installed on or after October 1, 2021.
- Installation Location: Parts must be installed by authorized Volvo dealerships. The warranty does not apply to parts installed in non-authorized workshops.
- Proof of Purchase: Requires a dated parts invoice or receipt presented with the current vehicle owner’s legal name printed on it.
- Transferability: The lifetime warranty is non-transferable and applies only throughout the same ownership. It becomes invalid if the car has a new registered owner since the part was replaced.
- Maintenance: Customers are required to follow Volvo’s recommended maintenance schedule.
- Health Check: Vehicles that haven’t visited an authorized Volvo workshop for more than two years after the standard warranty expires must undergo a health check at the owner’s cost to confirm the vehicle has not been modified or tampered with. The warranty’s validity is subject to the vehicle being subsequently serviced and maintained within Volvo’s authorized service network.
