Chery Malaysia helped the nation celebrate our 2025 Asian Youth Para Games athletes.
Chery Malaysia has proudly joined the nation in welcoming home Malaysia’s young para-athletes following their record-breaking performance at the 2025 Asian Youth Para Games (AYPG) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The Malaysian contingent delivered a historic medal haul, securing 39 medals in total, including 14 gold, 12 silver, and 13 bronze. This achievement marks a significant leap from the 13 medals won at the previous edition in Bahrain, setting a new benchmark for para-sports in the region.
A Hero’s Welcome Sponsored by Chery
As part of its commitment to youth empowerment and inclusivity, Chery Malaysia provided essential support throughout the Games:
- Pre-Games Convoy: Chery SUVs ferried all 29 athletes and their coaches to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
- Homecoming Celebration: Representatives from Chery and the National Sports Council welcomed the athletes at the arrival gates with flower bouquets and celebratory transportation.

Shining Stars of the Games
Several young athletes delivered standout performances on the international stage:
- Elysha Cheong Hui Yin: The 13-year-old swimmer from Kuala Lumpur made a massive impact, winning four gold medals (400m Freestyle, 100m Freestyle, 100m Butterfly, and 100m Breaststroke) and a bronze in the 200m Individual Medley.
- Cheah You Zhou and Ahmed Shahputra Abdul Rahim: First-time badminton partners who clinched the gold medal in the Men’s Doubles (SH6) category.
- Johannes Gabriel Chew: Demonstrated incredible resilience to win a silver medal in the Next-Gen Powerlifting Men’s up to 65kg category.

Commitment to the Paralympic Movement
Chery’s involvement in the AYPG reflects its deepening ties with the Asian Paralympic movement. Earlier this year, the brand collaborated with the Kazakhstan Paralympic Committee for a children’s sports festival and supported the hosting of the Asian Paralympic Committee Congress. These initiatives are part of a broader cross-border public-welfare effort aimed at promoting self-improvement and the joy of sport for young people with disabilities.

“Malaysia’s historic medal haul sets a new benchmark for para sports in this region, and Chery Malaysia is very proud of the achievement of these athletes,” said Men Lin Bo, Executive Vice President of Chery Malaysia.
Chery Malaysia has been very supportive of Malaysian sporting and athletic endeavours. In the past, they’ve donated RM50,000 to the National Sports Trust Fund, delivered free vehicles to Malaysian Olympic and Paralympic Medalists amongst other supportive endeavors.
