Chery Malaysia celebrated the historic success of Malaysia’s young para-athletes at a special recognition ceremony.
Chery has been proactive in promoting local professional athletes. They recently sponsored the transportation of our Asian Youth Para athletes to and from KLIA. Yesterday, they held another event celebrating those athletes’ achievements. The event, held at the National Sports Council (NSC), was witnessed by YB Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari, Minister of Youth and Sports. During the ceremony, Chery Malaysia presented a contribution of RM208,000 to the NSC to reward the nation’s medal winners and support the journey of all participating athletes.

A Record-Breaking Performance
The 2025 AYPG saw Malaysia achieve its most successful outing in history, securing a total of 39 medals: 14 gold, 12 silver, and 13 bronze. This represents a significant leap from the 13 medals won at the previous edition in Bahrain.

Standout performers included:
- Elysha Cheong Hui-Yin (Swimming): Secured four gold medals and one bronze, receiving the highest individual incentive of RM32,000.
- Wahyu Eqwal Nazrey (Swimming): Won five medals, including three golds in the 50m Backstroke and 100m/50m Freestyle events.
- Sharline Valerie Voo Wen Qin (Swimming): Earned five medals, including three silver and two bronze.
- Cheah You Zhou and Ahmed Shahputra Abdul Rahim (Badminton): Clinched gold in the Men’s Doubles SH6 event.
- Nik Muhammad Hashraff Muazzam (Badminton): Secured a silver medal in the Men’s Single SU5 category.

Comprehensive Mobility and Community Support
Chery’s involvement began earlier in the month with a full convoy of SUVs that ferried the 29 athletes and their coaches from the Malaysia Paralympic Sports Excellence Centre to the airport. This logistical support symbolised the brand’s pride in accompanying the team on their journey.
“At Chery, we believe that sports help build strong character. Through discipline and hard work, sports can shape your future,” said Men Lin Bo, Executive Vice President of Chery Malaysia. The initiative reflects the brand’s “technology for good” philosophy, which aims to create meaningful connections between innovation and the human experience.

Global Integration and Innovation
Beyond the local campaign, Chery Group integrated advanced technology into the Games through its partnership with AIMOGA. Two intelligent robots—ARGOS (robotic pet) and Mornine (humanoid robot)—appeared at the opening ceremony, showcasing capabilities like autonomous following and precise obstacle avoidance.
Chery Malaysia remains committed to supporting the nation’s youth and strengthening its sporting future through continued investment in sports and youth development.
