Chery TIGGO 7 PHEV Achieves 5-Star ASEAN NCAP Rating With 94.68 Points

The Chery Tiggo 7 PHEV set a new safety record rating at using the 2021-2025 ASEAN NCAP protocol.

Chery Malaysia has set a new benchmark for automotive safety in the region. The Chery TIGGO 7 PHEV has secured a 5-Star ASEAN NCAP rating, achieving a record-breaking overall score of 94.68 points.

According to the latest assessment results released on December 26, 2025, this score ranks the TIGGO 7 PHEV first overall, marking the best result achieved by any vehicle since the establishment of the ASEAN NCAP.

A Breakdown of the Record-Breaking Score

The TIGGO 7 PHEV’s exceptional performance was consistent across all four assessment categories under the ASEAN NCAP 2021-2025 protocol. Most notably, the SUV achieved a perfect score in the Adult Occupant Protection category.

Here is how the TIGGO 7 PHEV scored its 94.68 points:

  • Adult Occupant Protection (AOP): 40.00 / 40.00 (Perfect Score)
  • Safety Assist (SA): 20.00 / 20.00 (Full Points)
  • Motorcyclist Safety (MS): 17.50 / 20.00
  • Child Occupant Protection (COP): 17.18 / 20.00

This performance places the model well above industry norms, solidifying its position as a “best-in-class contender” for safety.

Standard Safety Features and ADAS

Chery attributes this success to a comprehensive suite of active and passive safety technologies. The TIGGO 7 PHEV comes equipped with eight airbags as standard, alongside essential systems like Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Anti-lock Braking Systems (ABS).

The vehicle also features an extensive Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), including:

  • Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB): Covering City, Inter-Urban, and Motorcycle scenarios.
  • Lane Support: Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Lane Keeping Assist (LKA).
  • Blind Spot Detection (BSD): For both driver and passenger sides.
  • Parking Pilot (PP) and Adaptive High Beam (AHB).

Spotlight on Child Safety

Beyond standard ISOFIX points, Chery has integrated Child Presence Detection (CPD) technology into the TIGGO 7 PHEV. This system proactively alerts drivers to check the rear seats if the rear doors were opened before the journey began, reducing the risk of accidentally leaving children or pets behind.

Commitment to Protection

Lee Wen Hsiang, Vice President of Chery Malaysia, stated that this recognition reinforces the brand’s dedication to combining innovation with world-class protection.

With this achievement, Chery continues to bridge the gap between high-performance New Energy Vehicles (NEV) and uncompromising occupant safety.
