Vmoto Partners with AJ Advanced Technologies to Launch Battery Swapping Network Across Thailand.
Vmoto, the Australia-Shanghai-based electric scooter manufacturer, has signed a major cooperation agreement with Thailand-based AJ Advanced Technologies and Guangdong DHA to establish a large-scale electric motorcycle battery swapping and fast-charging project, starting in Thailand.

The new partnership outlines a ten-year understanding between the parties, with a notable initial commitment from Vmoto to supply 100,000 scooters and motorcycles to be deployed under the joint venture.
Defined Roles and Structural Autonomy
The cooperation agreement clearly delineates the responsibilities of each partner:
- Vmoto: Will supply the electric scooters and motorcycles, adapting its vehicles specifically around AJ Advanced Technologies’ new battery packs for the swapping venture.
- AJ Advanced Technologies (AJ): Will develop the battery packs and is responsible for setting up the battery swapping and fast-charging network in Thailand. The vehicles will be badged and sold under the AJ brand. AJ Advanced Technologies is a publicly traded holding company on the Thailand stock exchange, operating the AJ EV brand, which currently sells scooters.
- Guangdong DHA: Will act as a strategic consultant, coordinating and providing support across commercial, technical, finance, and supply chain matters for the project.

Structurally, this arrangement mirrors Vmoto’s successful model with Vammo in Brazil, where the local partner assumes responsibility for the battery packs. This setup is conducive to long-term relationships, as it allows the network deployer (AJ) to maintain autonomy over the supply chain for the battery packs, which are the most capital-intensive component of the network.
Ambitious Regional and Global Expansion
The joint venture’s ambition extends far beyond Thailand. The cooperation agreement includes a noted ambition to expand the battery swapping network across Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and African markets.

For this large-scale regional and potentially global expansion, AJ Advanced Technologies is slated to remain the battery supplier, ensuring consistency and autonomy over the core energy infrastructure as the venture scales into new markets.
Vmoto has a presence in Malaysia via Ni Hsin. They sell the Ni Hsin EV Tech TC Max electric motorcycle for RM19,900 and the CPx Pro electric scooter for RM25,900.
