Priced at RM549,900, the new Toyota Vellfire 2.5 HEV is a hybrid option arriving just in time to answer Chinese rivals with PHEV MPV options. The new Vellfire is a self-charging vehicle and the Toyota badge itself should give it a massive leg-up when it comes to the conservative MPV crowd. That being said, it’s hefty price tag will be a tough pill to swallow.
The Toyota Vellfire HEV was previewed well over two years ago at the Beyond Zero event. The Vellfire of this generation was introduced to Malaysia in late 2023 with a 2.5L naturally-aspirated petrol engine while the Alphard came at the same time with a 2.4L turbocharged unit.
Powertrain: 1,000 km Range, No Plug Required
The headline feature is the 2.5-litre Dynamic Force Hybrid System. Unlike the turbo petrol engine found in the Alphard, this Vellfire pairs a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine (A25A-FXS) with a high-output electric motor.
