Chery Malaysia Hits 30,000 Sales Milestone in Less Than Three Years

Chery Malaysia has officially surpassed the 30,000 cumulative sales milestone less than three years after re-entering the Malaysian market.

The automaker Chery announced today that as of the end of 2025, it had recorded a total of 30,073 vehicles sold since its return to our market in mid-2023. This impressive figure solidifies Chery’s position as one of the fastest-growing automotive players in the country.

Chery’s momentum began immediately upon its relaunch.

  • 2023 (June-Dec): 4,501 units sold in its first six months.
  • 2025 Performance: The brand closed last year on a high, delivering 12,930 units to Malaysian customers.

Driven by Diverse Products

Chery’s success is attributed to a rapidly evolving product lineup that mirrors global automotive trends.

  • The Core Seller: The OMODA 5 remains the brand’s best-performing model, playing a pivotal role in establishing Chery’s initial foothold.
  • Electrification Push: The launch of the OMODA E5 in March 2024 marked Chery’s aggressive entry into the EV segment.
  • Tiggo Expansion: The Tiggo series has grown into a six-model strong lineup, ranging from ICE to PHEV variants, including the Tiggo 7 Pro, Tiggo Cross Turbo, and the plug-in hybrid Tiggo 7 PHEV and Tiggo 8 PHEV. This series was a major contributor to 2025 sales.

Community and Corporate Responsibility

Beyond sales, Chery has focused on purpose-driven community engagement.

  • Crisis Support: Following a fire incident in Putra Heights, Chery loaned vehicles to 50 affected homeowners within a week to assist with their temporary relocation needs.
  • Sports Development: The brand actively supports the National Sports Trust Fund (KWASN) and recently collaborated with the Ministry of Youth and Sports for events like the Asian Youth Para Games and Paris Olympic Games.

Future Manufacturing Hub

Looking ahead, Chery is deepening its local roots with the upcoming Chery Smart Auto Industrial Park in Lembah Beringin, Selangor. This RM2.2 billion facility is scheduled to complete its first phase in the first half of 2026, serving as a regional hub to enhance localisation and production capacity.

Globally, Chery Group remains a powerhouse, closing 2025 with 2.8 million vehicles sold and maintaining its status as China’s top automotive exporter for the 23rd consecutive year.
