The GWM Wey G9 Hi4 PHEV is the first of its kind to be locally-assembled and exported to Thailand.
Great Wall Motor (GWM) Malaysia has officially entered the luxury MPV segment with the launch of the GWM WEY G9 Hi4 PHEV.

As the first Chinese luxury New Energy plug-in hybrid MPV to be assembled locally, the WEY G9 represents a significant milestone in Malaysia’s automotive industrialization, serving not only the domestic market but also as a strategic export base for the ASEAN region.

First-Class Performance: The Hi4 Hybrid System
At the heart of the WEY G9 is GWM’s advanced Hi4 (Hybrid Intelligent 4WD) technology. This sophisticated system utilizes a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with a dual-motor setup and a 4-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT). This configuration enables intelligent electronically controlled all-wheel drive, providing superior traction and stability across varied road conditions.

The powertrain delivers a combined output of 325 kW (442 PS) and a massive 642 Nm of torque. This allows the large MPV to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds, reaching a top speed of 190 km/h. Drivers can toggle between three primary power modes—EV, EV Priority, and Smart Hybrid—to optimize efficiency based on their journey requirements.

Efficiency and Long-Distance Range
The WEY G9 is engineered to eliminate range anxiety, offering a total driving range exceeding 1,000 kilometres (NEDC). For daily urban commuting, the vehicle features a 44.2 kWh ternary lithium battery that provides up to 170 km of pure electric range.

Efficiency remains high even when the battery state-of-charge is low, with fuel consumption rated at 6.2L/100km. For faster turnarounds, the system supports DC fast charging, capable of taking the battery from 30% to 80% in approximately 26 minutes. It also features a 3.3 kW Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) external power supply, allowing the car to power electronic devices during outdoor activities.

Luxury Reimagined: The Mobile Living Room
Guided by the “First Class for All” philosophy, the interior of the WEY G9 is designed to provide maximum comfort across all three rows. The cabin features a flat floor and a generous central aisle for easy movement.

- Seating: The front row offers 8-way electric adjustment with 10-point massage and ventilation. The second row is equipped with “Zero Gravity” captain seats featuring one-touch reclining, ventilation, and massage functions. Even the third row is adult-friendly, with proper posture support and manual adjustment.
- Refinement: The cabin experience is heightened by HALOSonic active noise cancellation and double-glazed acoustic glass, maintaining a quiet 63.4 dB environment at highway speeds. A 21-speaker premium audio system provides an immersive soundstage.
- Convenience: A standout feature is the 12.5-litre dual-opening refrigerator, which can maintain temperatures between 0°C and 50°C and operate for up to 24 hours after the vehicle is powered off.
Uncompromised Safety
Safety is a core pillar of the WEY brand. The G9’s body structure is composed of over 83% high-strength steel, with critical reinforcements in the A and B-pillars reaching up to 2,000 MPa. The roof is engineered to withstand up to 12 tonnes of pressure.

The vehicle is equipped with a comprehensive Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), featuring more than 20 intelligent safety functions, including Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Change Assistance, and Autonomous Emergency Braking. Protection is further bolstered by full-length side curtain airbags that cover all three rows of seats.

Pricing and Ownership
The GWM WEY G9 Hi4 PHEV is officially priced at RMXXX,XXX on-the-road. To provide long-term peace of mind, GWM offers a 6-year unlimited mileage vehicle warranty and an 8-year or 180,000 km warranty for the hybrid system, covering the battery, motor, and control unit.

GWM Malaysia aims to sell 5,000 units of the Wey G9 in its first year. Besides exporting the MPV to Thailand, two other markets are being considered for export.
